The Department of Biotechnology has conducted an online Guest Lecture on “Cryo-Electron Microscope for High Resolution Protein Structure” on April 6th 2023. The Resource Person was Mr.Sambhasan Banerjee, Academic Researcher, Ulm University. The Session started with the welcome address given by Dr.C.Nirmala, HOD / Biotechnology and Presidential address given by our Principal sir Dr.M.Premkumar. Mr.Vishal R, student of III-B.Tech Biotechnology briefed the profile of the speaker.
The Resource person explained about the basic concepts, principle and working of the Cryo-Electron Microscope. He depicted the principle, components and workflow of the Cryo-EM. The lecture was very informative and it covered all the aspects related to the advanced microscopic techniques. Progressively the speaker explained about the entire steps involved in determining the protein structure, future perspectives, significance and the importance of the Cryo-EM. A total of 66 students attended the lecture that was a noetic conception alimenting session and concluded by answering the queries of the students followed by vote of thanks given by Ms.Pradeepa S, III- B.Tech-Biotechnology.
