The Department of Mechatronics & Robotics and Automation & Safety & Fire Engineering conducted an online Webinar “Industrial Application Of Finite Element Analysis” for II-year and III year students on 04.04.2023. The Convenors of the event was Mr.M.Matheswaran HoD/ MCT, R&A, S&F and Mr.K.Mohanraj Assistant Professor, MECH and Mr.P.Raja Assistant Professor, MECH was Staff Coordinators. The Resource persons of the event was Mr.D.Arumugapandian Expert & Mechanical Team Lead,Valeo India Pvt.ltd, Navalur, Chennai and Mr.N.Alakesan Senior Lead Engineer, Valeo India Pvt.ltd, Navalur, Chennai. Ms.M.Udhayadhurga II-Year Biotechnology gave the welcome address followed by presidential address given by Mr.K.Mohanraj Assistant Professor, MECH. Ms.K.Sathya III-year Robotics and Automation and Ms. I.Deepika II-year Biotechnology, briefed the profile of the speakers and invited for the session.
The Resource person explained the concepts of Industrial application of finite element Analysis for Mechanical Engineering, Thermal and Fluid flows, Electromagnetic field, Biomathematics, Geo Mechanics, Business Management, etc., and gave an overview of the applications of FEM in these heterogeneous fields. They explained that automotive industries commonly use integrated FEM in design and development of their products. The high point of FEM is its applications to any irregular geometry with various boundary conditions. Many engineering phenomena can be expressed by “governing equations” and “boundary conditions”. The lecture was very practical and covered all aspects related to manufacturing simulation process and engineering problem analysis. They also acquainted the students about the different application of finite element analysis in Industries. They emphasized many scientific examples for easy understanding of the concept. Finally, students were given opportunities to ask queries to the guest speakers. The session was interactive with active participation of the students. A total of 52 students attended the online webinar that was a thought-provoking session. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr.A.Mukilan II-year Safety and Fire Engineering.
