“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”. The Faculty Development Department organized a six day Induction programme through online mode for the first year students of Paavai Engineering colleges to acquaint them with the culture of the institution, learning techniques, Respect for education, values, time-stress management, and also prepare them for the transition from school to college. Paavai is the guiding torch for the youth folk and it is always an student-centric institution and efforts were taken to instill self-confidence, courage in the minds of the students so that they will be successful in their life and career. With this note, the virtual induction programme was conducted from 25.11.2021 to 01.12.2021 in six batches. Each batch consists of nearly 200 students, who attended the induction programme for these six days.
The Virtual Inauguration was held at the ‘Smart Hall’ where in Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, the Chairman of Paavai Institutions, emphasized the importance of the education during this pandemic situation, then he further compared that paavaiis like a kuthuvilaku, that students, parents, teachers, society and the management forms the five faces of the education system. Finally, he assured that all the students would definitely get good education in this covid situation and passed out successfully with their degree and their dream job. Mrs.Mangai Natarajan, the Correspondent, stated that the students should acquaint themselves with this pandemic uncertain situation and adopt the changes in this teaching learning process. This concept of , ‘VITHAI’, is a seed/ dream of 17 years old boy, which got established as a Pavai institutions. She also concluded that Paavai is known for positivity and adopt Paavai culture take the changes as challenges and do the best to come out of this situation. She focused on the merits and demerits of using mobile phones. She highlighted the significance of the involvement of the parents as well as the responsibility of the students in fulfilling the educational needs of a society and the nation.

KasthuriBai, Dean, Faculty Development Department, Mrs. C.Jayalakshmi, Dean Councelling, Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, PEC, Dr. K.Selvi, Principal PCT, Dr.A.Imanuvel, Principal, PCE, Dr.K.Sundaramurthi, Dean Academics, Dr.D.Bhanumathy, CSE, HoD, PEC, Mr.Loganathan, Head, Audio-visual, Dr.Shanthi, HoD, English, PEC, Dr. K.Subashini, Professor, Faculty Development Department, Dr.Mohanapriya, Associate Professor, ECE and 12 final year students from their respective domain were the resource persons for the orientation programme.
Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, PEC, Dr.A.Imanuvel, Principal, PCE spoke on the topic, “Achievements of Paavai” in their respective colleges. They highlighted the awards, recognitions, of the students and the faculty members. They went on explained the facilities and the opportunities available in the Paavai Institutions. Dr.R.KasthuriBai, Dean, FDD, focused on the topic, “Respect Education”. She stressed the importance of education, as education gives an individual an identity, employment, respect, status and income. She made the students to comprehend that the knowledge, attitude and skill play a major role in designing one’s future. Dr.K.Selvi, Principal, PCT focused on Paavai Culture, Paavai principles, Paavai Mantra and Paavai belief. She further went on explaining the studying techniques and also she suggested that the students should do experimenting the field of engineering education.
Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Dean Academics, elaborated the concept of time management. His focal point of talk was prioritizing the work to reach the goal in time. Dr. Shanthi, HoD, Eng, PEC elaborated the essence of Communication skills. She facilitated the students with the basic skills of English language such as, listening, speaking, reading and writing. She reiterated that if one takes care of fluency, accuracy will follow suit. Mr.Loganathan, Head, Audio-visual dept, illustrated with examples, the life skills and their application in day-to-day life. He spoke about the importance of rendering first aid to victims who are in danger. He showed videos pertaining to family values, filial duties and responsibilities. Dr.A.Mohanapriya, ECE, PEC listed out the different ICT tools for enhanced learning. She also cited a number of learning resources available on the campus of Paavai. .
Mrs.C.Jayalakshmi, Dean counselling spoke on the title, “Transition from school to college”. She said that moving is a stressful experience for any one. But for those who have prepared themselves mentally, nothing is difficult. Shifting from school to college is adopting the change in the mode of education and move on further in the process of learning. Dr. Bhanumathy, CSE, emphasized the significance of stress management. She elucidated the concept with many examples and video. Dr.K.Subashini, FDD emphasized the Beauty of Mathematics. She further highlighted the Fibonacci sequence and the concept of Golden Ratio. The final year students from each domain shared their experiences of their stay and study in the college. Each resource person explained and elaborated the topic and all of them did have an interactive session with the students. Around eleven sessions had been handled for each batch in these six days.
